Professor. Correspondence (1910–1956) to and from Carpenter regarding his university studies at the National Conservatory in Paris, his 1914 appointment to the faculty of the University of Oklahoma, his 1946 appointment as Dean of Fine Arts at the University of Oklahoma, the designation of a university building as Carpenter Hall, and his book Music, An Art and a Business, which was unfinished at the time of his death; Carpenter’s financial records (1940–1949), including cancelled checks, bills, and receipts; note cards (n.d.) containing a bibliography of music books; scrapbooks (n.d.) containing musical scores with accompanying research notes; and publications (1870–1954) including musical scores, performance programs, and journals. Also included in the collection is a two-page genealogical listing (circa 1949) tracing the Carpenter family history from 1675 to 1949.
