Description
Interpreter. A Comanche–English dictionary (circa 1895), with a Comanche alphabet and diacritical markings, compiled by Detrick while serving as an interpreter for the Red Store Trading Post at Fort Sill, Indian Territory. Also included in the collection are typescripts (n.d.) on the Comanche language, customs and conventions, the Lord’s Prayer in Comanche, a translated Comanche reminiscence with language notes and explanations, and a typewritten memoir (circa 1890) by Detrick about his work at the Red Store Trading Post.
