Correspondence (1930–1954), including personal data sheets on veterans of Indian wars and letters requesting assistance in obtaining pensions; diary extracts (1866–1893) describing experiences in various Indian wars, especially from 1860 to 1900, against the Apaches, Arapahos, Cheyennes, Comanches, Dakotas, Kiowas, and Paiutes; a manuscript (n.d.) written by Gen. T. H. Slavens, entitled “San Carlos, Arizona in the Eighties; The Land of the Apache,” describing Indian activity in the San Carlos area, 1849–1894; and publications including issues of Winners of the West (1937–1944), The Veteran Corps Bulletin (1952, 1954), The William McKinley Camp Bulletin (1954), War Path (1955–1956), and the Proceedings of the twenty-fifth annual convention of veterans of Indian wars.
