Description
Black and white Sanborn Maps for Oklahoma are available online through the University of Oklahoma Libraries website (http://libraries.ou.edu), under the Resources tab, in the Databases section. Direct link to the digital site: http://sanborn.umi.com/. Patrons must be on campus or logged in with an OU 4x4 and password to access the digital version. The Library of Congress has started to digitize their collection of Sanborn Maps that are in full color. They can be located on their website: https://www.loc.gov/collections/sanborn-maps/?fa=location:oklahoma. The Sanborn Maps for Oklahoma are also available on microfilm. It is a set of 20 reels of film held at the Library Service Center off-campus storage facility. The call number is Microfilm 425, and the accompanying guide is Microfilm 425b Guide, also held in storage. The microfilm can be requested via Sooner Xpress and used in Bizzell Memorial Library. General inquiries about using Sanborn Maps should be directed to the digital versions above, or to the microfilm version via Bizzell Memorial Library. Patrons can use the hard copies of these maps at WHC to view the color shading on the maps, if not already digitized and necessary for their project. Patrons may photograph the maps using their own flashless, noncontact devices in accordance with our normal copy policies. These maps cannot be photocopied or digitized on a flatbed scanner.
