Description
Professor and sociologist. Personal correspondence (1930–1954) and manuscripts of books and articles written by Dowd while a sociology professor at the University of Oklahoma, 1907–1947. The manuscripts include two copies of Dowd’s The Negro in American Life (1926); three unpublished manuscripts entitled “Seeing the World by Tramping and Ford Car” (1939), “The New World as Viewed by the Prophets and Interpreted by Jerome Dowd” (1943), and “Social Aspects of Art” (n.d.); and two article-length manuscripts dealing with Oklahoma prison reform and juvenile delinquency.
