Saddlemaker and leatherworker. Known for his skill in making detailed hand-tooled saddles and tack, Hawes worked in both Henryetta and Norman, Oklahoma during the early 1900s. In his spare time, he bound books in customized tooled leather and worked on a guide to leatherwork.
