This collection consists of a series of township survey maps for each of the states listed below. Waterways, numbered sections, ownerships, and survey measurements, as well as tables giving the areas of sections and claims, are commonly shown. In addition, the first box of each state contains a United States Geological Survey index map. Maps are organized alphabetically by state, then alphabetically by meridian. Within each meridian, northern townships are organized in ascending numerical order, followed by southern townships, also in ascending numerical order. Finally, within each township number, eastern ranges generally precede western ranges, both being generally in an ascending numerical order. Dates and sizes of maps vary, with many originals and reproductions of originals being accompanied by revised editions. Maps are by the Surveyors Offices and the respective states.
