Journalist. Manuscripts and galley proofs of books (1980–1982) by Stewart, including The Turner Ranch and One of a Kind: The Life of C. R. Anthony; and one unpublished manuscript, “Ambassador on Horseback,” regarding the life and career of Oklahoma-born jockey Everett Haynes. The manuscript regarding Haynes details his experiences as a jockey in Oklahoma, California, Mexico, France, and Germany, and describes with clarity the history of Germany as observed by Haynes from the mid-1920s through World War II, including accounts of his visit with President Paul von Hindenburg, the burning of the Reichstag in Berlin in 1933, and Haynes’s flight from the Nazis in 1939.
