Collector. A journal (1850) by Joseph R. Smith of New York, in which he recorded his experiences while on a surveying expedition through Indian Territory. Entries detail the expedition’s encounters with hostile Comanches, friendly Osages, severe weather, and hordes of insects. Also included in this collection are photocopies of a legislative document (1858) and a published article (1850), both regarding Creek Nation boundaries.
