Subject collection. Correspondence (1945–1946); publications (1945–1946); and newspaper articles (1943–1983) regarding the German prisoners of war interned in Oklahoma during World War II, and the prisoner of war camps in which they lived. Also included in this collection are the handwritten notes (1945–1946) University of Oklahoma history professor Morris L. Wardell used for his lectures to the prisoners regarding American democracy. Wardell’s notes and the correspondence in this collection reflect the University of Oklahoma’s efforts to educate the Germans concerning U.S. civics and government.
