Mining engineer. Smith’s correspondence (1902–1907), reports (1896–1920), and appraisals (1896–1920) relating to his career as a civil engineer and mining consultant. Included in the collection are blueprints of mines (1905–1918). Most of Smith’s work was with coal mines in Oklahoma, Indian Territory, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, and West Virginia.
